The Nordic Master of Global Music (GLOMAS) degree program was officially launched in affiliation with the Glomus Network at the Womex world music expo in Copenhagen on 29 October, 2009. Based in Northern Europe, this new international-collaborative programme begins offering courses in Autumn 2010. Due to both a strong interest in this rapidly growing field and the professional orientation of this programme, the admissions process for GLOMAS is highly selective, limited to only a small number of outstanding students per institution. Applications to this programme are due on March 1st of each year. Admissions examinations (auditions and interviews) for approved candidates are then held in May.

Please directly contact the institution to which you will apply for complete details regarding the application process:

FIRST PHASE:  Application

1) Completed application form (available from the institution to which you will apply)

2) Recording, preferably a DVD of excerpts presenting a range of relevant skills (performance/arranging/teaching...) maximum length 15 minutes

3) Motivation letter in English (max 2 pages) including:

·                     Description of musical and educational background

·                     Description of reasons for wanting to enter the programme

·                     Description of long term professional goals

4)  Curriculum Vitae

5)  Optional sample of academic writing

6) Certified Copy of Bachelor Degree Certificate in music (or equivalent according to national law for some participating institutions)

7) Possible language certificate (requirements may vary in each participating institution, but successful applicants will demonstrate a strong grasp of English language)

The above requirements (1-7) are the basis for selection of applicants to the second phase of the entrance examinations. Letters of invitation with detailed instructions will be sent to the applicants in late March (or early April) who have been approved to proceed to the second phase of the admissions process. The second phase (entrance auditions) will be held in May. Detailed information regarding the second phase (audition) will be provided to candidates who pass the initial application stage.

SECOND PHASE:  Audition (30 minutes total)

1) Interview in English (5-10 minutes)

2) Music Performance:

        b) You will be asked to creatively contribute to an improvised ensemble performance on a piece of music shared with you at the audition

[Note that the above tasks – (a) and (b) – will last for a total of 10 minutes]
